Not a Love Poem
this is not a love poem
this is not a love poem
droning this over and over,
wishing it could nestle itself in my mind.
it doesn’t stay put
just like your feet never do
you are always bouncing at the knees
and I think it’s because you can’t contain
your joy.
please, please don’t look at me like that
your lips turning up into the faintest of smiles
and your eyes glittering like emeralds
please don’t crack any jokes
you know I’ll laugh
breaking silence,
laughter dripping like egg yolks
this is not a love poem
unless you would like it to be
please give me a sign
to help rid me of anxiety
(p.s. this is a poem I wrote months ago & it may not even be applicable now)
