Not Me
I am not what I post.
My natural features have become lost,
Shadowed behind the great filters
To hide my physical flaws of confidence killers.
All the money I spent on concealer is just not enough
To hide the endless cycle of acne that is oh so tough
Now, don’t forget the purple eyebag!
It makes me look like a hag.
Let’s not discuss my head.
It’s as round as a roll of bread.
My selfies become perfect
With just a slight tilt-effect.
Where would I be without the filters?
Just the sight if my face gives me the shivers.
I only need some color adjustments.
Some contours and highlights will sure please the gents.
Forget the gents.
Filters are just minor adjustments
Used to boost my esteem
To look like the me in my dream.
Why must I try to be what I’m not?
I’m clearly not that hot.
Rejecting my natural beauty would be lame.
Just face it. We were all born just the same.
Who am I trying to impress?
Deep down, I can no longer suppress
The face that I know so well.
I shall accept myself as belle.
Is it sad that I hide behind a screen
To hide the features which are my gene?
Take off the filter!
Let your splendor shine like glitter.
