Not Prepared

With unjust thoughts of the memories that we once shared,

I can't help but think of how I was so unprepared

To have to say goodbye and let go
It came so soon and I still can't grasp The idea that you're actually gone.
It feels like my heart has been ripped out of my chest.
I often think of just crying alone by myself
Instead I have to put on my armor  and face the truth
You're in a better place now. You're bulletproof.
Nothing to gain or lose.
Now it's my time to chose
I chose to think of the memorable times we all hold dear
Even if sometimes they don't come in clear.
You were the first one to leave,
But the one to help me believe,
In myself, as well as in God,
That I will see you again.
And I will always carry you with me until that day.
With a warm embrace to behold in the future
I can't help but think of how happy you must be.
No more suffering, no more pain,
Looking down on me, us, with that beautiful smile, that once lit up the room.
The figure itself may be far but your voice and love will never leave my heart.
Grandpa I love you and miss you. And until my time comes where I'll rise up to God and live in eternal happiness.
I'll see you soon.
