Not of A Princess
Once Upon A Time
In a village all too kind
There was a beautiful princess
Flawless by design
Perfect she seemed to be
But the princess was not free
It's funny how when we tell tales
We only remember the good memories
She stayed awake late nights
With books by candle light
Dreamning she could be
The girl rescued by her knight
But deep inside her heart
The young princess fell apart
Because little did the people know
She didn't feel beautiful or smart
She didn't like her hair
Because it wasn't full of gold
She didn't like her feet
Her "glass slippers" were worn and old
She knew that she was odd
Because they all put her to shame
She always wondered why
She had to be this way
Because what fairytales don't tell you
Is that it's not always okay
Yes, even a princess
Doesn't feel like a princess everyday
But there are a few true things
That we need to recognize
A princess is always beautiful
From inside to outside
Secondly a princess
Will always be found, you know
By her lover, her best friend
Even when she feels unbeautiful
Because whether a princess doubts
About who and how she is at times
She is perfect to someone
And that's enough to hold on tight
You see that a fairytale
Is not always what it seems
There's always the good and the bad
Don't forget the inbetweens
Lastly just remember
A princess is no different from you
Remember if you don't feel good enough
You are a princess too
