Not So Sleeping Beauty
Not So Sleeping Beauty
By Rachel Gering
Once upon a time
Aurora knew every pickup line.
Princess of being rude to the sweet,
Because she thought they were just meek geeks.
She always had too much fun,
And was never awake to see the sun.
For that was the curse she had,
Given to her by some old hag.
Once she turned twenty-one
She would spend no more days in the sun.
So she partied at night
To keep her good spirits from flight,
But there is only so much you can do
When you’re only awake from dusk to dew.
Her night life lost its glee
So Aurora decided to flee,
But on the night she packed her bags
She was revisited by that old hag.
The wrinkled woman offered her a deal.
She could have her sunny days back for real,
If she could help out someone;
More specifically that old hag’s grandson.
The women explained the best she could
And with a sigh Aurora understood.
He couldn't flirt or really speak,
By most girls standards he was truly a geek.
Aurora knew helping him would be a chore,
But for days in the sun she would help this bore.
So she ventured to the hag’s house
Where she thought she would meet a man mouse.
But to her surprise this boy named Paul
Really didn't need help at all.
He was handsome, kind, and funny,
Almost like a fluffy bunny.
And so what! He really likes mathematics.
His personality was really charismatic.
He made her rethink her first impression,
And really made her change her direction.
And as the nights together flew by
Their love attraction came to eye.
So the old lady set Aurora free,
So that her and her grandson could be happy.
