Not Society, but Me

Who are you?

What are you?

When will you bring meaning to life?

How will you contribute to the future?

Why do you want those things?

Standing. Balancing. Teetering.

Society gives a shove

Tottering. Slipping. Falling.

Crash landing into life’s maze

The maze that is past, present, future

It will determine where I go

Running. Stumbling. Crawling.

Obstacles are a bruising pressure

Nothing makes any sense

No map given

No answers received

Stop. Breathe. Think.

One step at a time

Fighting through the obstacles

Learning from the stumbles

Wounds will heal as time progresses

Steps become lighter

The light shines brighter every moment

Pressure eases and the maze makes sense

Society demands answers about the future

But we must be in the present

Tackle the obstacles in front of us

For they are what make us

Society may shove, demand and seek our answers

But society can wait

I have to find my own way, my own self

Not what I am told to be

I will be me.

I am whatever I desire to be.

I will bring meaning when the time calls.

I will do it in whatever means needed.

I want to be me.

I am me.
