Not What Everyone Dreams
Butterflies swarming, bumbling in piles,
Rampantly seeming to complete miles.
Face consumed in red, heat taking over,
Caused by just a look from that one lover.
This is what most imagine to be love,
Everything else aside they’d shove.
But I’d like to challenge this view for just a breath,
Perhaps there is more to relationships than just living ‘til death.
Togetherness is something built on more than just rings,
More than simply a white dress and tying all strings.
It is not created in the span of a day,
It is not mastered in a hurry with no undue delay.
No, it is molded and built from bottom to top,
But it cannot be bought in any shop.
A real bond, a true bond comes out of pain,
At least it erupts despite what would detain.
It is more than the fuzzy feelings found in one’s chest,
It brings with it the storm, the snow, and the rest.
There is no ideal example of love among us,
Through the years some have tried-only creating a fuss.
Love is wrought with commitment and hopes,
Knowing that despite all odds together you’ll mount its ropes.
Love is sitting and conversing in the face of disagreement,
It is realizing the other matters even if inconvenient.
It is offering advice when asked to do so,
It is sitting and listening, watching the other grow.
In the end love is far from what people think,
It is the one thing that saves us-an unbreakable link.
