Not What They Say

They say you’ll know,

Know you’re in love.

You’ll feel it run,

Run through your soul.

That everything will change.

Nothing will be the same.

But what if it’s not,

Not what they say?

What if you will never know,

Know if it was or could have been?

They don’t tell you.

Tell you what then.

But it’s already too late,

Too late to hide from my fate.

It’s not supposed to be perfection,

Just indirection.

Love isn’t what, it’s who

And I know I love you.
