Not Without My Blankie
It was to be a three hour cruise
or that was what I had planned
things quickly went awry
when the boat hit dry land
One thing for sure
and of that I was glad
I had taken along my blankie
for without it I get sad
My blankie has been with me
since the day I was born
a gift from my grandma
it's now all ratty and torn
This blankie gives me comfort
and I need it to sleep
no matter what happens
It's something I always plan to keep
People may laugh
and my friends will make jokes
but with it I am most happy
and this is no hoax
Now this blankie has been
where ever I go
to Florida to New York
and even to San Diego
It went to summer camp
even stayed in a dorm
spent spring break in the Keys
where it was sunny and warm
This blankie is old
and faded and worn
it's not much to look at
but, hey, I've had it since I was born
Suggestions are always made
to replace it with new
but why would I do this
I haven't got a clue
A teenager with a blankie
may seem strange to you
but what can I say
I'll never bid it adieu
