Not you

They like you when you’re quiet

Well, they never really liked you

Maybe there were times when they pretended to

But in the end, the truth wins out

You hold close the hope that someone cared

Your mother, your best friend,

But both replaced you in time.

Both came to move on to other things

without you.

You’ve changed a lot

You’ve been hurt a lot more

And that can cause anyone to change

You’ve been lied to and manipulated

Abused and broken.

Shunned and left.

No one liked you enough to care then

But now you’ve changed

You’re quiet

(You’re scared to be loud)

You apologize

(Because you’ve been taught everything you do is wrong)

They like you more now

Even though you hate yourself

This quiet thing is not you

And they have never liked you more
