Not Your Average Super Hero
Some heroes wear capes–others, masks;
some hold the ability see through things–others, to not be seen at all.
Some heroes are massive, Goliath in stature–
others, physically average.
Mine?
She stands just over five feet tall.
She wears the most colorful adornments–
both inside, and out.
She does not have x-ray vision, yet she still sees through
(not things, but people).
She looks at hearts,
because those reveal who a person really is.
She does not breathe fire, nor ice–
but breathes life;
kindness drips from her lips
and love twinkles in her eyes.
Her arms cannot lift an entire car,
but they can be the safest, most comforting
place to be–especially in seasons of sadness.
She is a wisdom in flesh;
teaching those she encounters how to live–
boldly, fiercely, fearlessly.
Thank you, mom, for being the hero
I never deserved, but definitely needed.
