The Note

I said that you were my best friend,

It broke my heart when you failed to reciprocate.

I see our journey coming to an end,

I can run away, but still get injured when you detonate

You harassed me in front of my new friends, thinking it was funny.

By groping me, your chance to ‘make it up to me’ has passed,

For months, fighting with you made me sick to my tummy

Years later, I’d like to say I’m sorry our friendship didn’t last.

There’s nothing like two new friends who both know loss,

My bestie just lost his brother, what I wouldn’t give

To have Noah back, and not wear him like an Albatross.

Somehow, I gotta make this situation positive…

I became an older brother to his little sister,

Her sobs and cries perfectly mirror mine.

And I tell her that in time, it will all get better.

She returns my words with a sarcastic sigh

Sometimes, life and relationships put you in a deep dark pit.

With more to bear on your shoulders that you can fit on one note:

Life is short, life is long, both right and wrong, so just enjoy it.

Spread love, speak up, and keep each other afloat.
