A note to my "Dad"
Tell me where you've been daddy
Tell me where you've been,
Mutter me your story while your breath stings of gin.
Tell me where you were when the smoke eclipsed your lungs,
Embers in the ashtray burning like the twilight sun.
Tell me dose the reefer make you feel anew,
Can you tell me where you were when I learned to tie my shoes?,
And,tell me where you where when I learned to ride a bike,
Poppa's in the Bathroom strung up higher then a kite.
Tell me why me growing up was never quite the same,
Tell me all the reasons why you were not to blame.
Whisper me your story of Your struggle and Your pain.
Tell me why I grew up,but you remained the same.
And tell me why I should care, when you were never there,
Tell me how you taking credit for me would ever be fair.
Tell me where you were daddy, because I could never find you,
funny how the booze and smoke,
Always seemed to blind you.
