Note to Self
Wake Up.
It's what my me says to itself as we try to figure out which was is left, and which is right
Wake Up.
I've been stuck for over 7 years
Drowning in tears and sorrow
Longing for the tomorrow that would never come
Wake Up!
Nightmares flood in
Always reminding me of my past sins
And sinners always go to hell
Or end up rotting in some jail cell
Or end up dead...
Lights flicker, just like my memories do
I was there, but I wasn't
It happened but it didn't
I want to speak out but I can't
Please Wake Up!
Fear clogs my lungs
What once was a voice of passion
Now left unsung
My body then incapacitated
Why couldn't I move
Why didn't I move, run, fight
Wake Up!
How long can you allow sorrow, pain, and fear to guide you
It's been 7 years
Where are you? Where have you been?
We stay around siblings, family and friends
Yet you have been sleep, stuck in your nightmare of sorrow
Instead of worrying about today, your thinking about tomorrow
But the problems of here and now forever stay in our shadows
So you have to wake up!
Some things we cannot change
Instead of letting it ruin your life embrace the pain
And be the person you know you can be
Stop drowning in this imperfection of reality
And acknowledge that this is our life
I am you, you are me, and we are us
And I have to wake up
No more excuses, or perplexing situations
Or judgemental faces
Looking back at me in the mirror
7 years
Long nights, sound tears
Because of the imperfection of my reality
But life is not perfect
Sunshine does not ripple out of the skies
Concealing us with ignorance by soothing our minds
Life is hurt
It is confusion
And delusions of endless love
Life is everything you don't want it to be
But it is also what you make it
Stop trying to sleep through life, faking it
This time you have to wake up
And for the first time in 7 years I am WOKE!
