note to self


And it’s okay to be sad.
It’s okay to be fucked up,
but stop telling yourself that you’re damaged because
that’s not a bad thing.

Because I love you
and every inch of tatter fabric
that wraps around your body like skin.
I love you because that damaged skin knows hurt. 

You have beams in your eyes
that can scan a street and
take inventory of any living, breathing thing 
that has tears in their heart,
and you can feel it too.
I love you because you see diamonds in blood
and reflections in wounds.
I just wish you saw the beauty in yours.
