Nothing

Location

They come and they go

It’s heartbreaking

You learn so much

It’s like they are now a part of you

Every expression they make

Clearly landscaped in your head.

Things slow down

It’s the wrong place,

the wrong time.

Your heart skips one last beat

Those butterflies you’ve had for so long

Start to drift away…

Tears flow to your eyes

You never imagined this would happen

They’re taking off,

Leaving

Like it’s nothing.

All you’re left with is an empty enclosure

Wanting to be fulfilled

But things will never be the same

Let it go

Even though your eyes never stopped being watery

And your soul feels scarred

Let it go

You want to go chasing

On a warm summer day

For those beautiful monarchs

It over powers you

But you need to,

Let it go

Your memories begin to fade as you age

But you still remember those bright colors gleaming on that sunny day

Such painful regret this brings

You sit there

Alone.

And finally decide

To let it go

Like it’s nothing.
