Nothing

What would I change

If I had but one choice

One thing to say

With this small, fleeting voice?

What would I change?

I could go back into history

To the outset of time

And wipe away darkness

Of sin's stain and grime.

I could cure every illness

And prevent all disease,

But what would it profit

If I chose one of these?

Or could you imagine

If I made us all smart?

What true revelation

Of everyone's heart!

For reform in this world

What trait would be chosen?

One simple word, "nothing"

Tis that would be spoken.

What would I change?

Not one thing created

By Him wise over all.

Not a thing I'd do better

To try'd mean my fall.

What could I change?
