The Nothing

It was Blur, a fuzziness becoming a grand haze That would not surrender no matter the prevention The fuzz was powerful and could engulf all things Simple things of life and liberty I wanted Blur to fade with time To escape from me and run to another Instead it grew into everything Transforming objects into nothings I am afraid that this might be Death Seeking my hand for eternity Leaving life behind to surrender to the blackness Letting the mist become my everlasting state Doomed to dissolve into the nothing Suffocating every breath and erasing all my thoughts Chasing away my desires and inflicting eternal loss Fighting Blur is a hard task at hand When no one can understand your predicament So, a liar I became, ostracized from the everything And the simple things: Life and Liberty I began to wonder if I should surrender Letting Blur become a contender I almost let the fade within Let him consume everything my soul my life my strife So I took control and withdrew on my own Exhausting Blur's chances to reign at all I took charge of my fate And dissolved with my own haste I am welcomed into the Nothing Happy they are to have me Blur, for sure, is my friend to be It took ease to take his place Quite too easy for me to replace Blur here, Blur there, now Blur is me

I want to thank all who reads my poem. I believe the poem can have many interpretations which relies on individual's circumstances. I have had friends say that they believe a women is drowning and others say its someone who is lost. No matter the number of interpretations presented, all are correct. This is true, because my intentions were to create a poem that was both vague and presents an overall meaning to whoever the reader will be.
