nothing lasts forever

It's a distant memory
Difficult to grasp as it floats away
but still in sight for me to know it's there

I can remember the messy sheets
The clothes on the floor
The messy hair
Our eyes so full of life
Our hearts so full of love

It was an ablution, loving you
A rebirth into an entire new feeling of the world
A ripple in the calm waters--life became exciting

I hold onto those feelings dearly
Because it gets harder and harder to grasp them
Because summer can't last forever, just like our moments
One day it's warm and beautiful and the next it's blistering cold
When it gets colder and my heart shuts down
I begin to forget our lively eyes
And the love in our hearts
Because some days it hurts so damn bad to know that it's not there anymore
But one day it will be summer again
The cold won't last forever
