Nothing Promised Nothing Guaranteed

Living life one day at a time
nothing promised nothing guaranteed
Just to live this life equal and free
Such a simple task don’t you agree

Taken from our country
run out of the hood
talking about equal rights
thought they understood

We’re no different who made you boss
no respect of colors but that all got lost
or so I’ve been told
Bought for a price but not our soul

Old man river run red
from all the blood we shed
just trying to get ahead just a little

Keeping our dignity best as we can
displaying no malice for our fellowman
Lost our identity reclaim it we must
purchased with gold filled with lust

Sad
No one to trust

Hearthrob

Poetry is an anomaly words inclusive to not only me, but for each and every spirit to set themselves free.

Over 400 years and still there's work to be done.
