It is obvious only
to someone who
has been there
To see the anguish
behind the laughter
The cuts that come
from nowhere
The lashing out
The isolation
The cold fingertips
and numb expression
The pain behind the
smile and the secrets
of the silent tongue
How answers to
suggestive questions
don't quite add up
And weird gestures
seem to create a
distraction in the
air reflecting a
way of looking
through what is
and into a different
type of insecurity
One released
through drawings
poetry and song
lyrics, You seem
to be on the edge
of okay and death
Black the color
you use to express
yourself as you
grow distant from
everyone who once
knew you so well
You will not seek
help, but sweetheart
you need to.
Because those
thoughts of yours
have the power
to kill you and will
if you don't stop them.
