Notice a Change

I woke up, and I noticed a change, Things aren’t as they were back in my younger days I hear the slang of hip hop, I got a gloak, gunshots A child on the news laid out with his drunk pops. Blue, black, red, yellow, all these gangs against each other, When I remember reading of Dr. King saying love your fellow brother. Children are growing up so fast, what happened to sleeping with Teddy under the covers Now they’re in the 7th grade, worried about having protection and a rubber. We got babies bring babies into this world, and young lives unfulfilled leaving in herds Families breaking down, and the economy in shambles, how in the world should this be handled? I woke up, and I noticed a change. All these tragedies we’re making, disasters we’re facing, when we all want one goal, just to see a happy nation. Why is it so hard to accept elevation? Why does pride bring us down through raw determination. Why do tears stain those tired old faces? The faces of people, the strong and the brave. The ones that are the reason why you should not be shamed. The ones who had courage, REAL courage that is. The ones that made their way through the struggle and thrill. I woke up, and noticed a change. Guns stopped shotting, that cause death and mayhem. And real men stood up, embarking on love and romance School was a priority, and shoes were not And more people were employed with legal jobs, not selling pot There was an evolution of mankind that had been worked for many long years And a highness off happiness that was so unreal. A genuine share of love and compassion from ear to ear The rise of joy, letting you know a break through was near I hope one day someone, wakes up, and will notice that change. Because it takes everyone around us, if we want to be saved.
