Notice Me

I am surrounded by people, I am physically here, But mentally gone And no one notices. As long as I reply Or make the appropriate response, They are satisfied. But while they laugh, I cry. If I were to turn to the sun, No one would notice, No one would care. They claim they are friends They know it's not true, Before I was here, I was totally alone Wrapped in a blanket Of my own despair When they talked I talked back, Desperate to be liked. I found him here. When I talked everyone because deaf But not him He was standing right there He pulled my blanket Shared it with me, And took away the pain. I wish I could do that, For you some day.
