I know that I'm not the most attractive man you've ever laid eyes on
Or that I might have the smoothest voice your ears have overheard
I know that I'm not the funniest guy who's ever told you a joke
Or your favorite guy friend to have those long night conversations with
I know that in a million years I'm not the tough and strong guy that you could want
Or that I'm  the confident alpha male who will take charge and sweep you off your feet.
And I also know that you won't and never will feel the same way about me that I've felt about you.
You weren't the one to fall for me after one conversation.
You weren't the one who broke down your walls of comfort and decided to open up completely
You weren't the one who spent those many summer nights thinking of the possibility of us ever getting together
You aren't the one who's heart seems to flutter whenever you see my name on any type of social media
I know you aren't.
For the last five years that I've known you, I've wanted to tell you these three simple words.
That I love you.  I need you. I want you.
But today was different.
It didn't make sense.
One moment I swear the only person I could think of was you.
Just you sitting in a hammock enjoying the summer breeze as the sun came down.
Enjoying your life with me right by your side.
But then it was just me
All alone
Sitting there
Happy
Smiling
And just enjoying life.
