Now I Know

Note to self, the next time you want to give a boy your heart

At least make sure this boy deserves it

Make sure that he accepts you and trusts you and actually wants to be with you

Make sure he loves you for you and please do not fall in love with his words because anyone can say those words but very few mean it

But he said...

“ I love you, I do, it’s just hard for me to put my words together and express what I feel”

Or maybe it was

“I love you, thats why I keep doing this”

And a little of this

“It’s because I love you that I’m like this”

Because you love me?

More like because you love the idea of being with me

People say they love you, but in reality they love the idea of being with you

Its funny because, I loved you I truly did

But as time changed so did you

So when I made those first steps to self love I completely wrote you off from my life just as I’m writing this

We romanticize the idea of being with someone

But what about a healthy relationship between ourselves?

What about loving ourselves so much that we wouldn’t let anyone dare break our hearts again so we build a guard and keep it up letting only ourselves in?

And that’s okay, because eventually the one that deserves you will come around and you’ll have the perfect relationship that you’ve been dreaming of

But in the meantime,

You’ve gotta learn to love yourself kid

Because no one else is gonna do it for you.
