Nu Metal– Our Voice

"Listen to me," A kid asked of you "Listen to us!" They begged you "Listen to us!" We have to demand. You see nothing In us, but anarchy. Though we tried to reach Out– to you, Too often to stand, You pushed away so easily That kid Who asked of you what you once asked, Has begged of you what you once begged, Demanded what you once had to demand. Our obvious, different groups, Once falling beneath clashing cliques, Have ripped off our demeaning labels— United— Thousands of us, A single nod of agreement, Only sure of one thing— We're done with your bullying. We won't reach For you– anymore. But to each other To do the one thing we know Our strength is in Pop and metal? Rock, plus rap? Making middle ground– Somehow, just enough To get our message to you: We Are Done. That's what it had taken, And takes much more, To make you see us— No, hear us. The wave has risen, Threatening to engulf America? No, swallowing the world. Distant countries somehow tied together By a thin, taut string– A worldwide sigh of agreement Of pissed of youth. You see us now As we are – real, And finally using our voice To simply ask? To beg of you? To demand? To SCREAM— Something you can't stand. But now that you've heard us– Can hear us– It's not so easy to despise us, Is it?
