Nubian Princess
She was a Nubian princess Yet told because of her dark skin she was less Forced to straighten every single tress Of her nappy roots to hide her truths She was a Nubian princess Yet her history was flipped and suppressed Her power and abilities as a creatress Were hidden what was written She was a Nubian Princess Yet was shamed for her curves in that little red dress Same curves that western society then made assets Get a surgeon for this new trend in fashion She was a Nubian princess Yet her people oppressed Then her culture something they became obsessed Within the media made to feel deficient like anemia She was a Nubian princess Yet all they saw , another statistic of welfare checks No matter how hard she tried her best It just wasn't good enough it's all corrupt She was a Nubian Princess Yet when raising her little prince she was stressed Had to teach em these streets are vicous Don't carry a bag of skittles Because if you want to taste the rainbow Bullets may rain and po You might not see light of day again Rip my brother Trayvon Martin If you speak your mind you'll be just like Martin No not him, but Luther King Despite the peace you bring Your BLACK life don't mean a thing She was a Nubian Princess But bein a princess was not something she knew
