numb

A suffocating paradox binds my chest. I feel every heavy thing all at once. Then, the static takes over completely. Night arrives, but peace never follows. Thoughts run frantic laps in the dark. They repeat, over and over, without stopping. I scream out for someone to save me. Yet, I instantly reject the lifeline offered. I find a twisted safety in this ruin. I brought the cold-hearted girl back. She was retired, buried, and gone. But she protects me from the breaking. I should have listened to Isaac. I should have trusted my own blood. Instead, I let outside ghosts steer my life. I am entirely drained of all light. I want to vanish from this place. Hope is gone, and the numbness is home.
