Numb

She's alone. She sits outside and feels the cold breath escape from her diaphragm. And she stops. Why? How? What? When? Everything races through her head as if she was standing in the middle of traffic. Every thought blows by her head quicker than the last. Mom is sick. Dad has left. The boy doesn't love you. Everything is wrong. Numb. Numb she stands. No emotion, no reveal of the lava beneath the volcano. It's better to be numb. She can't feel anything or worry if she is numb. Numb. Comfortable. Numb.
