Number To Rely On

1 + 1 = 2

It’s reliable,

It’s true,

Never wrong,

Always right,

Why can’t it be that way with life?

The square root of 9 is 3

Reliable = what life will never be,

With numbers, you know,

In life, there’s no telling where you’ll go,

You can rise up,

You could fall down,

Potential outcomes are all around,

Pick what you think’s best,

Try to sort out the rest,

20 – 15 = 5

Not knowing what’s next makes us feel alive,

Always on our toes,

Trying to predict what nobody knows,

Life keeps us guessing,

Always stressing,

2 + 2 = 4

Find ourselves asking more and more,

Where are we headed?
Future like a book unread,

Pick it up to find it unwritten,

Taking up the pen,

Write out the chapters,

Make your own happily-ever-after,

Day after day,

Live the present your way,

Blindly, your future will wait,

Regardless what happens,

4 + 4 = 8
