The Numbers

The Numbers

By: Katelyn Halcome

Life is about the numbers,

Take the height of an 18 year old girl,

The average is around 63.7 inches,

But a healthy range can be anywhere from 60 to 69 inches,

Statistically data is seen in variations ad measured in deviations from the mean,

If the aveage is 63.7 and the standard deviation measured is 1 inch,

then I a stout 5'10" fall roughly 6 standard deviations from the average,

That is reasonably far,

As for weight of an 18 year old girl,

The average is 115 pounds,

But due to hieght and shape variability it can be healthy to be between 100 and 160,

With such a large gap you would think I would fall so easily but you would be wrong,

I fall with a very small space between me and the maximum of that range,

I am not an outlier and Im not average,

I dont fit in and I dont fit out,

So life is all about the numbers and mine are all wrong.
