o captain my captain
A sink full of blood you could no longer hide
It ran down the drain as the dread spread inside
O captain, my captain
The day that you died
The linnolium floor
the flourescent white light
o captain my captain
I suppose they were right
I'll leave you this letter at the foot of your grave
The water, the waining, the rest of my days
o captain my captain
too far to save
The lens in my eye was beggining to crack
The mole on your face and tattoo on your back
o captain my captain
taught now gone slack
To run out of loss or to run out of time
To face to my trouble or to run from the crime
o captain my captain
Cut down in your prime
I'm trying to breathe
I'm trying to stand
o captain my captain
was it all planned?

Your Poem's Voice
Personal loss and trauma with philosophical questioning; mostly concrete autobiographical events.
Dense packing of vivid imagery, death, memory, guilt; multiple ideas layered per line.
Grief, trauma, despair, and confusion dominate; darkly introspective throughout.
Intense emotional turbulence; fragmented syntax and urgent breathlessness create kinetic tension.
Approximately 24 lines; falls within 16-30 line range.
Rich metaphor (sink/drain), allusion (Whitman), personification (waning), vivid sensory imagery throughout.
Pure lyric internal voice; first-person emotional confession with no narrative distance.
