O Captain, My Captain
The rapid clicking of calculators synchronize with the firing of neurons as I attempt to make sense of the seemingly arbitrary numbers placed before me.
The fluttering of antiquely printed pages creates a cloud of dust around my calloused hands as I spew words from my mind in a race against time.
The bubbling of chemicals in Erlenmeyer flasks is barely audible as I mix together a variety of complexly named chemicals to fill up all the rows and columns data table.
I am a product of an institution that forces me to think quantitatively for the sole purpose of completing reproduced worksheets previously solved by hundreds of other students.
I was following a script of controlled actions with no personal vision or story that I believed in.
You made me believe.
You are my vision.
With you, I was given a new lens to see the world in a different way, a more interesting way.
You are my viewfinder, allowing me to find an expressive and creative view on my surroundings.
Thanks to you, I am able to have a better understanding of the people around me, capturing all sides of them from different angles.
Thanks to you, I am able to see things from a bird's eye view, seeing the bigger picture and application of things to larger issues.
With $800 I was able to buy you, the Canon Rebel T5i, an encapsulation of my happiness and source of creativity.
