O' The Irony
O' The Irony
You say politics?
I say lunatics.
You say government?
I say punishment.
Why?
Why must we live in a nation of lies?
We are the land of the free,
Not of the beastly.
This twisted system has but one cause:
That is the Grandfather Clause.
All of this hatred revolves around mass incarceration,
And a great example of that is segregation.
In the 60's there were many economic booms.
We say white and colored only bathrooms,
Segregated buses,
Courtroom musses,
Innocent people convicted
For things they never did.
But take a step back, look at the big picture.
Look at all this stricture.
We all want life, liberty, and freedom,
But can we really be dumb?
We still have pay gaps,
This makes our economy collapse.
We still have segregation, whether you want to admit it or not,
And men are still being shot.
Innocent men, may I add,
One may just be an undergrad.
Just think, while you've been ignoring all these woes,
The truth has been right under your nose.
Regard or disregard, there still lies one thing:
We have no king.
But you know the country that has a monarch?
Britain, Spain, and even Denmark.
These countries formed America,
But it seems as if there is still an esoterica.
This secret is that despite our past,
America cannot be a simple forecast.
We have seen it all, bloody and violent.
But yet we still seem to keep silent.
It all started with some gin and tonic,
But America is simply Ironic.
