O Nolichucky

O Nolichucky.

Powerful and Strong.

Rapidly changing like an old country song.

Washing fear over many.

Including little ole me.

O Nolichucky.

You won’t beat me.

I must respect you.

To outwit you.

My tube and I.

Fear growing deep inside.

Tears rolling with every twist,

Rapids changing with a hiss.

My tube and I flip,

Not once,

But twice.

I wanting to quit.

Quit, no I must outwit.

Almost to the end.

One more rapid.

To go in.

Respect.

You to earn you.

Fear no more.

O Nolichucky.

My Mentor for this poem was the river located in Erwin Tennessee called the Nolichucky, it runs from Erwin TN, to North Carolina. This past summer was my ery first time on it and it most defintely shaped me into a new person I am at this moment in time! It taught me to respect things as they are and to achieve my fears and over come them.
