"O' Shelby, my Captain"

O’ Captain, my Captain.

Your commands are given with sure hands,

If hard to interpret.

Your shrieks can be heard from the tallest of masts,

And the excitement that erupts when we decipher them is palpable.

You’ve spent so long not being understood by most,

But so happy with the few who listen to your words.

O’ Captain, my Captain.

Your optimism that every day will bring you what you want,

Guarantees you never wake up in a bad mood.

It has taught me to seize the day,

Even when I’m just living the mundane.

You taught me to look at the world differently.

That even if everyone were out to get me,

I can still be happy,

Can still create what I was meant to.

O’ Shelby, my Captain.

You may not know where it is you’re taking us,

But by god if we won’t get there.
