O' Where Has The Time Gone

Once I got home from Step-Up Day at school, I went to my room and faced the mirror.

I stared at the reflection of myself wearing the senior crown I had decorated.

That big smile I wore turned upside down as I started to wonder:

“Oh where has the time gone?”

It felt like just yesterday that I was waking up to start high school,

But soon, I will be waking up for my last day.

My eyes welled up as I thought back:

“Oh where has the time gone?”

No longer a child, but not yet an adult; just only seventeen.

Sooner, rather than later, I will be walking across a stage and receiving my diploma.

At the end, I will be congratulating and saying farewell to my dearest friends.

“Oh where has the time gone?”

I know now these people, my friends, helped shape me as a person.

They taught me to trust, to care, and to laugh when it feels like I can’t.

I look at my reflection in the mirror.

“Oh where has the time gone?”

I change my frown to a smile.

I still have one more year left with my friends.

One more to make more memories I will cherish for a lifetime.

Before we have to say goodbye.
