Oasis
The sky seems feathery,
softly so grey
that no stone dares imitate
windows have heartbeats
war drums rhythmically sounding in time
with the sudden circles on the sidewalk
but the world is silent for a while, breathing
until the war drums stop and the hearts evaporate
the burst of sound can only be described as life
pure cell division and carbon
shrieking their delight to the feather sky
