Obey

Love

is not about give-and-take, simply

because love

is not obligatory.

You made me wholly dependent on you,

made me to obey you,

because you swore,

no one else would ever

love me more.

The hint of a snarl,

the flash of anger in once-amorous eyes,

your willingness to deceive

and the clenched fist.

Don't grieve;

unconditional love exists.

Love

should be gentle and kind

A good balance between selfishness

while sharing what's mine.

Because I love you,

you don't mind;

because I love you,

we are freely intertwined

of our own wills.
