Obligation

Obligation

It can feel like a chain

As if you have somehow become inhumane

Reduced to a rag doll being dragged around

And yanked about

All over the place

Or marionette with someone else holding the strings

Responsibility can be a dreadful thing

Tugging at you at every opportunity

Laughing at your attempts to break free

Like a cruel pet owner with you on a leash

Refusing to let you break away and discover your niche

I wrote this when I felt like I was losing who I was due to all the roles I had to play.
