Oblivious

Tucked in the corner Of Covent Garden On the busiest street Of the busiest time of year Lies this tiny London soap shop. Black framed panes Line the shop window Soap of every shape and colour Line every sill The walls painted A brilliant aquamarine. Against the stark London sky The gray of jackets and jumpers The shop is illuminated from within. Windows mirror the entire street The reflection of stars and holiday lights. And inside the window stands a girl Finish up her last shift Eyes downcast and oblivious To the holiday around her. With a frumpy green frock A matching hat Red gloves and elf ears Behind thick glasses her eyes peer Absorbing the holiday around her. It looks like Christmastime.
