A girl A woman A mother A wife A person A thing Is what you say It has a heartbeat It has the five senses It has eyes It has ears It has a functioning brain Yet you say she's useless How so? She cooks She cleans She does your laundry She buys your necessities She is the one when you have when there's no one else to turn to But you take advantage Taking her freedom Taking her voice Taking her happiness Taking her way Taking everything away Except her emotions, yes, you left that To feel pain To feel misery To feel despair To feel solitude To feel unloved Marriage is a difficult thing It has its arguments Its downfalls Its tiny moments of joy But a flame that's been distinguished It leads to confrontations It leads to separation It leads to court Doing one thing, to keep that flame, to save it There would be understanding There would be cozy nights There would be laughs and kisses There would be less arguing and more repairing All could be done with help within or out It's never to late to see where everything lies It never is
