The Obsessions That Hold Me
The leaves are warmed from a blue necklace dangling high in the tree
So high that no one can see
The golden drops of questions fall to the ground
They lay in the grass of the fallen, where they hold us down
I’m covered in the blanket of sadness
The feelings of misery pull me to the grass
The pieces smother me; the blanket, the gold drops, the grass
They look so inviting; they keep me so warm
I hold tight the feathers,
The feathers, they hold terrors
And yet I can’t let go because I’m afraid
I’m afraid of life without it
But worry not for the door knob holds hope
Will and trust are waiting
They have keys to new life
Kick off the blanket; shake off the gold droplets
Let loose the feathers of terror that keep me there
Find that precious stone that gives love to the lost
I write my own story from here on out
Don’t give money to the fountain of wishes
Instead, give time to the train that will take me
Don’t look down the dark, haunted halls of doubt
Look towards the blooming trees of heaven
The leaves will still be warmed from the blue necklace that dangles high in the tree
Yet it hangs so high that no one can see it but me
They are all still lost
