Obsidian

Raven black hair and mischievous eyes

Her way of walking bewitched all

Playful gestures and intended words,

In the frigid seasons; though

This is not Literature—but

The outcome was....

Secretive glances here and there

An opportunity surfacing; seized quite quickly but fractured quite slowly

A painstaking reality

Too true to forget, Whispers in the hall

Too loud to reject

A coquettish glance there

A provocative sigh near– Two lovers in a triangle

Of youth

Wishing different things

At different times

His tantalizing words; her

Lovely deceit

A fellow’s tale heard all a round!

His dazzling smile and

Her curious mouth, were not

A marvelous match

Lovely she was until her day; repulsive thoughts and dull diction came

A lover’s rectangle, oh

Heavens who’s near?

Embrace him, love her

What a worldly mistake

Overflowing and regretful

Tears

What a waste of adolescent

Life

For he was a worthy

Knight

But she was no damsel

In distress
