The Ocean

People tend to expect too much,
Want more than you can give,
Wish you were better, or
Sometimes want you to be completely different
And you give into their false ideas,
 Bowing down to their standards.
What you don't seem to understand is that
You are the Ocean.
You are a rippling, power source of strength and inner struggle.
You are remarkable,
A force of nature,
Something powerful.
They don't see it all the time
Because sometimes you're
 "Too Cold",
     "Bleak and Gray",
         Or "Drifting Away"...
But you know.
You know that you're fixing yourself.
You are capturing your swimming thoughts,
Gathering up your lost and broken pieces,
Reclaiming your sand and shells.
Crashing back and forth,
The moon is trying to pull you away.
You are unsure where you are going.
Right now you seem to be ebbing,
But you'll be back at high tide.
You possess the courage to overcome the swirling storm inside.
When you do, everyone will finally see...
The beautiful,
  limitless,
     shining,
           breathtakingly intense being
               that is
                    You.
