The Ocean that Surrounds Us

Adrift in the sea

my anchor at last.

Truth in knowing

that over time metal rusts,

weakening this love between us.

But through strong winds and gales,

your voice is heard

and the stronger the chain becomes.

The fight to stay afloat in

raging storms and seas,

outlasts to calming waters.

You're the light in the storm

which guides me to you.

As thundering skies, shake and toss,

the undercurrent pulls me far from view

but through all my struggle

encouragement keeps the light lit.

And whenever I start to sink,

from the weight of living life

you hear my SOS

and save me from the depths below.

Compassion keeps your fire from burning out

and my engines from losing steam.

No matter how far I travel

you are my compass, my guiding light,

in this ocean that surrounds us.
