Oceans
The thought of a heartbreak gnaws at my heart.
The constant wondering of what it would be like together makes my heart ache.
“It’s better this way,” I convince myself.
But I’m no lawyer and I’m not the best liar.
To be with him would make it better,
Knowing exactly how he feels,
Even if he breaks my heart in the end.
Because never being together means
Not knowing what we could be
Or how he felt when the waves pulled us apart.
Because maybe he swam away.
The ocean is full of mysteries.
I am left alone in the endless pool,
Only to drown in the realization,
That I lost my only chance,
And I’ll have to swim by myself now.
So when you tell me she broke your heart,
You’ll be the lucky one
And I’ll be soaking wet.
