Oceans Deep
Although opposites attract
Your darkness should have never mixed with my light.
The screams and shouts that cut our throats felt like fire,
The breaking glass and tears shed, pillows thrown across the room.
They felt like boulders instead of the soft contents inside you said I resembled.
You said it would make me stronger.
Why did you want me to be stronger?
“Because I Love You”.
I kept my heart open so I could let you swim,
You left my body hoping to be under your skin.
Words set the waves in motions,
Now they’re sinking in,
You did me in.
I’m falling back again.
You cut me oceans deep.
Those Tsunami waves you sent my way
Should’ve been soft ripples onto the shore where I laid,
Instead I was drowned and washed away.
Those were four words you never used correctly
“Because I Love You”.
Where they should be placed after a foot rub,
Or the candles and roses making friends with the tub.
You used them when I said I wasn’t in the mood,
Still you did what you wanted to do.
I met someone new today,
Said he knew of a place in a field of flowers where we could lay.
We were accompanied with a basket full of my favorite foods.
You gave me a foot rub and I could tell our hearts were glued,
“This is that healthy type of love,” he cooed.
Why did he give it to me?
“Because I Love You”.
