Ode to Ambiguity

Praise for the moments when I do not feel like praising

I found a moment, shrouded in gray, wrapped in fuzzy agony

And it shone with truth despite my best efforts to hate it

So thank you for ambiguity

Thank you for crossroads

And late night loneliness

Thank you for the exquisite pain of not knowing all the way

Not ever knowing all the way

Thank you for the passion that arises under the weight of trouble

And the simple things we discover, in the hushed aftermath

Thank you for a thousand paths that lead to you

No right or wrong answer, life is not a multiple choice question

It’s a short response

Comfort is easy

Truth is not

Humans are absolute, defined, contoured creatures

Truth is not

Do not teach me things in a lecture

If I do not find it out for myself

What is the use of knowing it?

Do not erase my own misgivings

If I did not doubt it

Why would I call it faith?

If there is one thing I know it’s that

Truth is colored in shades of gray
