ode to Aunty Rosie

Ode to Aunty Rosie

          Oh Aunty Rosie.

Just the sound of your name makes a damn burst in my brain.

Flooding my mind with memories of you.

Oh I remember the sound of your beautiful laugh and how the sweet melody of your voice used to calm my young mind.

It scared all the ghost and goblins away.

          Oh Aunty Rosie.

I remember the feeling of your wrinkled hand rubbing your arthritic crooked fingers through my think curly hair.

While my small head lied on your thin legs

Oh I remember the smell of your expensive floral perfume and oh how it lingers on your soft galaxy pink robe.

Even after all the years.

          Oh Aunty Rosie

I remember the taste of your spicy Marinara sauce.

Oh how it used to sting my lips like and it hurts to know that no one can recreate the spaghetti of my dreams.

.

But Oh Aunty Rosie

More than anything I remember your smile

How it caused those beautiful laugh lines around your salmon colored lips that used to kiss my chipmunk cheeks goodnight.

I wanted to let you know I still feel them when I’m sad.

          Love you Aunty Rosie, RIP/'{
